Start making a toy hammock by preparing the following materials:
- Thick string or yarn
- Scissors
- 8 small hooks
- Two yards of fabric
The foremost thing to do is to determine the size of the hammock. For instance, two yards of fabric can make two swings and can accommodate a number of toys. There are children who may want to have a medium-sized swing to accommodate a specific group of toys. So, consider the size and length before you start making one.
The next step is to screw the first four hooks into the ceiling. You may want to place it near the corner or in any place where there is enough space. Take the fabric out and lay it on a flat surface, then fold it into half and trim away the excess fabric. Cut the fold and each corner so there should be two inches across the corner. Fold a little bit of each corner of about one-fourth inch, and then turn another one-fourth inch to enclose the edge. Press it to flatten and stitch the corners in place. Also, repeat this for the rest of the corners. On the sides of the fabric, fold it under about one-half inch and press it. Insert the yarn in the fold, but leave a few inches at the corner. Start stitching the folded edge while the string is placed within the folds but also leave two inches loop of the string at each corner.
After sewing all of the sides, knot the ends of the string and knot again. Trim any excess string and try to pull the knot from end to end to see if it works. Evenly distribute the string and knot it again just past the ends of the fabric. To secure the ends of the hammock, stitch though the fabric at the corners until it is locked into place. Lastly, hook it out from somewhere you placed the screw-in hooks.
